Two important buildings were linked to the North Wing, the Chapel, Mansart’s masterpiece, that can be seen at the bottom left, and by the other end, the Opera house close to the water basins.

The Rue des Réservoirs runs alongside the North Wing. These reservoirs were used to supply the fountains of the gardens.

The Ministers’ Courtyard, also called the Forecourt, is lined by two wings, that themselves linked four buildings lived in by the ministers under the Monarchy.
