In the centre of the picture, stands the equestrian statue of Louis XIV which separated the ministers’ pavilions on two adjacent courtyards. The royal courtyard on the left, towards the castle, and the ministers’ courtyard towards the railings. Nowadays the statue has been removed on the Place d’Armes towards the beginning of the rue de Paris.
