Here is Nabuchodonosor’s Palace with its five large
courtyards.
The main entrance, on the up right façade, opened to the eastern courtyard or entrance courtyard.
This courtyard gave access to a second one, the courtyard of the administration services,
or middle courtyard. The third one, probably decorated with glazed bricks,
opened to the throne hall (abt 50m x 25m) covered with blue glaze.
At last, the fourth one must have been the courtyard of the royal
appartments and the fifth might have been devoted to a harem, but a doubt still remains.
We can nevertheless only be impressed by this colossal architectural complex.
